The Baccalieu Digs initiative is a project of the Baccalieu Trail Heritage Corporation, a non-profit organization of dedicated academics and citizens united to preserve, protect and promote the rich heritage of the Baccalieu Trail region. It is an area of profound historical significance with a 500 year old history of European discover and development as well as a much longer heritage of indigenous Beothuk civilizations.

For over 15 years the Baccalieu Trail Heritage Corporation has supported not only a network of archeological (surveys, excavations, and interpretations of the area’s rich historical endowment, but a wide range of heritage related projects and initiatives.
